Chief Pilot – Gust Rose

Gust Rose is one of two founders and lead pilot of Aerial Guardians. With a lifelong passion for aviation and community service, Gust has built his career on the values of precision, integrity, and purpose.

Gust holds a Bachelor’s degree in Aviation and has extensive experience in law enforcement, firefighting, and emergency medical services. His public safety career includes time on a SWAT team and as a K-9 handler, where he developed strong skills in tracking, situational awareness, and mission coordination. Those years of field experience taught him how to stay calm under pressure, lead in critical moments, and think strategically—qualities that now define his approach to aviation and drone operations.

A passionate aviator, Gust is both a FAA-certified Part 107 drone pilot and a Part 61 manned aircraft pilot, with hands-on experience flying fixed-wing aircraft. His combined manned and unmanned flight background gives him a deep understanding of airspace, weather, safety, and flight dynamics—allowing him to conduct complex missions with confidence and precision.

As a Part 107 instructor at a local community college, Gust also shares his expertise with new drone pilots, helping them learn safe flight operations, regulatory compliance, and real-world applications of drone technology. His students appreciate his approachable teaching style and his ability to connect technical concepts with real-life experience.

Through Aerial Guardians, Gust continues to combine his aviation skill set with his passion for public service. Whether capturing breathtaking aerial footage, conducting detailed inspections, or assisting in search and recovery efforts, he approaches every mission with professionalism, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

When he’s not in the air, Gust enjoys mentoring other pilots, exploring new drone innovations, and finding creative ways to use drone technology to benefit his community. His goal is simple: to make every flight count—for his clients, his students, and the people he serves.

Assistant Chief Pilot - Tyler Atwood

Tyler Atwood is the other founder of Aerial Guardians, where his hands-on expertise in agriculture, construction, and drone operations comes together to provide clients with reliable, real-world aerial solutions. A FAA-certified Part 107 drone pilot, Tyler brings a grounded, practical perspective to every mission, blending his deep industry knowledge with a commitment to precision and quality.

Raised around hard work and machinery, Tyler developed a lifelong passion for understanding how things grow, move, and get built. As the owner and operator of a successful family farm, he’s gained first-hand experience managing land, crops, and equipment—all of which have sharpened his skills in logistics, planning, and problem-solving. His work in the construction industry has also given him an exceptional understanding of structural layouts, site management, and the importance of accurate visual data—skills that now enhance Aerial Guardians’ operations in both drone photography and aerial mapping.

As a Part 107 drone pilot, Tyler specializes in using drone technology to bridge traditional industries with modern innovation. From agricultural field analysis to construction site documentation and search and recovery missions, his approach is rooted in precision, safety, and purpose. His agricultural background gives him a keen eye for detail, while his construction experience ensures every project is completed with a professional standard of accuracy and reliability.

Tyler’s calm, methodical approach and strong technical insight make him an essential part of the Aerial Guardians team. He’s known for his ability to tackle challenges head-on, adapt quickly to changing environments, and find creative solutions that benefit clients and communities alike.

When he’s not flying drones or managing operations, Tyler can often be found on the farm—working the land, maintaining equipment, or exploring new ways technology can improve efficiency and sustainability. His work ethic, practical experience, and passion for innovation make him the perfect co-pilot in Aerial Guardians’ mission to combine aerial excellence with real-world expertise.
